About the Role

As a Talent Scientist at Canonical, you will join a team dedicated to ensuring our hiring processes are scientifically rigorous, objective, and efficient. This is not a traditional recruiting role; you will focus on the science of talent and performance, driving initiatives and automation to help our business make data-backed hiring decisions.

What You Will Do

  • Drive Talent Analytics: Provide real-time insights to stakeholders to optimize hiring efficiency.
  • Conduct Assessments: Perform in-depth behavioural talent interviews to gain insights into candidate motivations and behaviors.
  • Build Relationships: Partner with global Hiring Leads to monitor activities, drive results, and ensure operational consistency.
  • Improve Processes: Review and streamline hiring tools and workflows to drive continuous improvement.
  • Promote Diversity: Champion diversity and inclusion by removing unconscious bias from our hiring and sourcing strategies.
  • Stakeholder Training: Advise and train leadership on best practices for interviewing and talent selection.

What We Are Looking For

  • Academic Background: Bachelors or Masters degree in a Psychology-based subject.
  • Industry Experience: Experience hiring talent within the technology or consulting sectors.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong ability to identify trends using SQL, with Python and/or advanced statistical analysis preferred.
  • Assessment Expertise: Exposure to and appreciation of psychometric assessments and their interpretation.
  • Interviewing: Proven experience conducting competency-based, behavioural interviews.
  • Mindset: A highly data-driven approach with the ability to create measurable outcomes.
  • Remote Readiness: High level of personal organization and self-drive.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to company events 2-4 times a year (up to two weeks each).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in sourcing and headhunting.
  • Knowledge of statistical significance testing, Bayesian inference, or predictive analytics/ML.
  • Familiarity with tools such as LinkedIn Talent Insights, Greenhouse, DISC profiling, or Superset.
