Director of Product, Risk & Response - Coalition

About Coalition

Coalition is the world's first Active Insurance provider designed to help prevent digital risk before it strikes. Founded in 2017, Coalition combines comprehensive insurance coverage and innovative cybersecurity tools to help businesses manage and mitigate potential cyberattacks.

About the Role

This is a new role leading a new grouping of three areas that together form Coalition's risk lifecycle: Underwriting (how we select and price risk), Claims (how we close the loop and mitigate losses when something goes wrong), and Security (the Control and Wirespeed products that help policyholders reduce risk in the first place).

Your job is to be strategic about how these areas come closer together, recognizing that risk selection, loss mitigation, security telemetry, and claims outcomes are not separate problems but one continuous feedback loop.

This is a people-leadership role managing a team of product managers across all three areas. You will report to product leadership and partner closely with Engineering, Design, Data, Underwriting, Claims, Actuarial, Finance, Operations, and more.

Why Security sits in a risk group

Control is our attack surface monitoring and login security product: we continuously monitor policyholders' external attack surface, watch their Google and Microsoft environments, and lock down accounts that look compromised. It exists because reducing policyholder exposure directly reduces our loss ratio. Wirespeed MDR is a paid, growing revenue line sold into our policyholder base and non-insured companies. Part of the judgment this role requires is holding those two very different mandates at the same time without letting either starve the other.

What You'll Own

  • Underwriting: The internal risk decisioning stack including underwriting models, real-time execution systems, underwriter workbench tooling, scanning/data collection, and insurance product development. Accountable for ensuring models perform in production correctly, pricing behaves as designed, and workflow execution is fast and auditable.
  • Claims: The claims operations engine spanning intake, adjudication, enablement systems, workflow automation, platform migrations, and ML-assisted insights.
  • Security (Control & Wirespeed): Control as the connective layer between security telemetry, policyholder experience, and underwriting workflows; Wirespeed's MDR/ADR capabilities, integrations, reporting, and market competitiveness.

What You'll Do

  • Ensure product strategy across underwriting, claims, and security treats them as one risk lifecycle, making deliberate trade-offs about investment.
  • Hire, coach, and lead a team of PMs across three distinct domains.
  • Own feedback loops: ensure security telemetry informs underwriting, claims development informs pricing, and underwriting quality is measured against realized loss outcomes.
  • Own the product surface driving security activation, onboarding, and conversion from Control to paid Wirespeed accounts.
  • Partner with Data and Engineering to advance model-driven workflows, automated decisioning, and ML-assisted tooling in a regulated environment.
  • Drive major platform evolution and systems migrations across the portfolio.
  • Define cross-portfolio success metrics and represent these areas to executive leadership and external partners.
  • Champion an AI-enabled approach to underwriting, claims, and security products.

Skills and Qualifications

  • 10+ years in product management with experience hiring, coaching, and developing product managers.
  • Proven track record owning a multi-domain or platform portfolio and finding connective tissue across competing priorities.
  • Experience in technically deep, model-driven, or data-heavy product areas partnering with Data and Engineering.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead major platform migrations or enterprise system transformations.
  • Exceptional communication and influence skills to drive alignment without relying on direct authority over the full engineering stack.
  • Daily fluency with AI tools in product workflows and a perspective on how AI impacts risk and security.

Bonus Points

  • Experience with regulated financial products or insurance workflows (underwriting, claims, compliance).
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity products, MDR/EDR, security operations, or incident response.
  • Experience shipping products built on predictive models or automated risk scores.
