Why You’ll Love This Role

We are seeking a proactive and pragmatic Technical Revenue Manager to join our finance team. In this individual contributor role, you will serve as our ASC 606 subject matter expert, authoring the positions and policies that let new offerings launch on a compliant, scalable footing. The ideal candidate has deep ASC 606 expertise, strong technical writing skills, and sound practical judgment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cross-Functional Partnership and Policy Design: Partner with Product Management, Sales, Enterprise Applications, Legal, and Deal Desk during the inception phase of new product initiatives to assess revenue recognition positioning under ASC 606. Author and formally document revenue accounting policies and technical position papers establishing compliant frameworks prior to launch.
  • Technical Accounting Papers: Research, resolve, and write technical revenue position papers documenting accounting conclusions and economic substance for complex, non-routine transactions and corporate acquisitions.
  • Commercial Structure Evaluation: Evaluate emerging commercial structures, consumption-based billing models, multi-element packaging terms, and evolving deployment models to determine appropriate accounting treatment and performance obligations (POBs).
  • Process Optimization and Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead cross-functional initiatives to scale technical revenue processes, translating insights into system and policy recommendations that drive automation and accounting efficiency.
  • Audit and SOX: Serve as a primary contact for technical revenue matters with external auditors. Prepare defensible support packages, respond to inquiries, and maintain SOX control documentation.
  • Close and Reporting Support: Support month-end and quarterly close execution and reporting, including revenue reporting and flux analysis as needed.
  • Ad Hoc Projects: Support ad hoc technical accounting requests, including consulting on M&A activity and other cross-functional initiatives.
  • Global Collaboration: Work flexibly across time zones as needed for occasional duties outside standard working hours.

Requirements

  • Deep, practical ASC 606 expertise applied to multi-element, consumption-based, and hybrid arrangements (including standalone selling price, performance obligations, variable consideration, material rights, contract modifications, and principal vs. agent analysis).
  • Demonstrated technical accounting research and writing skills with a track record of authoring position papers that hold up under audit.
  • Proven ability to simplify complex commercial facts and deliver practical, defensible conclusions without over-analyzing.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functionally and explain technical accounting concepts to non-accounting stakeholders.
  • Experience with revenue controls and supporting external audits within a SOX environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills and experience with NetSuite and Salesforce.

Preferred Qualifications
