Senior Accountant / Accounting Manager - NetBox Labs

At NetBox Labs, we're building the future of network automation. We are looking for an accounting professional with a finance engineer's mindset — someone who owns core accounting operations while using AI and automation to make Finance more accurate, efficient, and scalable.

This is a hands-on, high-ownership role responsible for the month-end close, accounts payable, expenses, reconciliations, and audit readiness. You’ll identify manual processes, build practical automations, and partner across the organization to improve how work gets done. Automation is the throughline across everything you do. This role is ideal for someone with deep SaaS experience who takes pride in getting the numbers right.

What You'll Do

• Month-End Close: Own the month-end close, including journal entries, account reconciliations, flux analysis, and supporting schedules.
• Accounts Payable & Expenses: Own accounts payable, employee reimbursements, and corporate card programs, ensuring accurate coding and timely month-end accruals.
• Reconciliations: Prepare and maintain balance sheet reconciliations with clear supporting documentation.
• Process Automation: Partner with the Controller to continuously improve and automate the month-end close by identifying bottlenecks and designing AI-powered workflows that increase accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
• Tech Evaluation: Evaluate emerging AI, automation, and Finance technology solutions, recommend improvements, and lead implementation where appropriate.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work cross-functionally with Engineering and other teams to identify automation opportunities, connect systems, and eliminate manual processes across Finance.
• Financial Support: Support budgeting, forecasting, reporting, and ad hoc projects as needed.
• Audit Readiness: Support audit readiness by preparing audit schedules, maintaining documentation, coordinating auditor requests, and helping ensure ongoing compliance.
• Special Projects: Take ownership of ad hoc special projects that improve how Finance operates.

What You'll Bring

• Experience: 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including close ownership in a dynamic startup SaaS or startup software environment.
• Accounting Fundamentals: Strong knowledge of accounting fundamentals and high attention to detail.
• AI & Automation Tools: Proven experience using AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) in your current role and comfort picking up new automation tools quickly (e.g., n8n, Zapier).
• Finance Engineer Mindset: You build scalable processes that reduce work and increase accuracy for all stakeholders.
• Strong Judgment: Good judgment regarding which activities should be automated and which require human review.
• Audit Experience: Experience leading or supporting a financial audit.
• Systems Proficiency: Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, Rillet, or a similar GL/ERP system.
• AP & Expense Management: Experience managing AP, expense, or corporate card programs (Ramp or similar) is preferred.
• Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA a plus but not required.
