About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Forward-Deployed Engineer to join our Professional Services team. You will work directly alongside developer teams at our most strategic enterprise customers to drive transformational outcomes in frontend modernization, platform migrations, and AI adoption.

This role requires high agency and autonomy. You will navigate ambiguous enterprise environments, assess technical debt, design migration strategies, and deliver measurable business value.

What You Will Do

• Build production AI solutions: Utilize Vercel's eve framework, AI SDK, and AI Cloud infrastructure to create conversational interfaces, production agents, and MCP servers.
• Lead complex frontend migrations: Modernize legacy React, Vue, or other frameworks to Next.js, focusing on App Router transitions and large-scale codebase transformations.
• Conduct code audits: Analyze customer codebases for performance bottlenecks and architectural anti-patterns, delivering actionable roadmaps.
• Architect high-performance applications: Leverage App Router, Server Components, streaming, and ISR to meet enterprise scale requirements.
• Embed with strategic customers: Work hands-on within customer systems to ship production-ready TypeScript code.
• Drive enablement: Conduct workshops, pair programming, and documentation to ensure customer teams can maintain solutions independently.
• Navigate enterprise environments: Build relationships with stakeholders to translate technical capabilities into business outcomes.

About You

• 6+ years of software engineering experience, with 2+ years in a customer-facing technical role.
• Experience using AI instrumentation (harnesses, skills, MCPs) to build and deploy applications.
• High agency with comfort in ambiguity and complex organizational navigation.
• Exceptional communication skills with a low-ego, collaborative approach.
• Strong business acumen to translate technical capabilities into ROI.
• Willingness to travel occasionally (typically 3-4 days every other month).

Next.js-focused Candidates

• Expert-level TypeScript skills.
• Deep expertise in Next.js (App Router, Server Components, SSR, SSG, ISR).
• Proven track record leading large-scale frontend migrations.
• Mastery of React and its ecosystem.

AI-focused Candidates

• Production experience with LLMs, agent development, and human-in-the-loop patterns.
• Ability to identify and evangelize business cases for AI agents.
