About the Role

We are looking for a Software Engineer to join the Agent Stack team and help build eve — Vercel's framework for production-ready AI agents. You will design core framework primitives, contribute to the runtime, and shape the developer experience for the next generation of AI-native applications.

Note: This role requires onsite presence in New York City or San Francisco with anchor days on Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.

What You Will Do

• Framework Development: Design and ship core eve features, including file-system conventions, compilers, and runtimes.
• Integrations: Build and maintain integrations across the channel layer (Slack, Web Chat, WhatsApp, API, Cron) and connections layer (Vercel Connect / MCP).
• Collaboration: Work with the AI SDK, Workflows, and Sandbox teams to ensure seamless platform composition.
• Developer Experience: Drive CLI ergonomics, documentation, and examples to help developers ship agents in minutes.
• Observability: Contribute to evaluation and observability tools, including test suites and deployment-time evals.
• Customer Partnership: Partner with early customers to gather feedback and diagnose agent reliability issues.

About You

• 5+ years of production TypeScript/JavaScript experience with a focus on complex, stateful systems.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, including durable execution, checkpointing, and failure recovery.
• Experience building or operating developer tooling, frameworks, or SDKs.
• Familiarity with LLM APIs and agent orchestration patterns (tool calling, multi-agent delegation, human-in-the-loop).
• A track record of shipping high-quality APIs and a deep commitment to API design.
