Senior Software Engineer, Convert (Backend/Infra) - Webflow

About the Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Convert team, you will build the systems that power Webflow's agentic marketing platform. You will focus on backend infrastructure, designing distributed systems that provide technical and content recommendations, manage AI workflows, and enable customers to build their own agentic workflows.

What You'll Do

• Design & Operate: Build distributed backend systems for our recommendations pipeline and AI workflow engine using Python and TypeScript/Node.js.
• Own Infrastructure: Manage AWS and Kubernetes infrastructure, focusing on reliability, observability, and scalability.
• Build Resilience: Strengthen system failure handling through eventing, streaming, retries, and backpressure management.
• Optimize Data: Design clean API boundaries and optimize MongoDB data models.
• Innovate with AI: Leverage state-of-the-art AI tooling to build reliable systems on top of LLM-backed components.
• Collaborate & Mentor: Partner with product engineers, PMs, and designers to ship high-quality code and mentor engineers on backend and reliability practices.

About You

• 5+ years of experience building and operating production backend systems, ideally in multi-tenant SaaS.
• Deep expertise in distributed systems (concurrency, asynchronous processing, queues, streaming).
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript/Node.js.
• Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure (AWS, containers, Kubernetes, CI/CD, observability).
• Experience modeling data in MongoDB or similar databases.
• Excellent communication skills in English (business-level fluency).
• A proactive mindset toward AI and emerging technologies.

Bonus Points

• Experience with orchestration engines (n8n, Temporal, Airflow).
• Experience operating LLM-backed or agentic systems in production.
• A track record of improving service reliability.
