The Role

We are hiring a Senior Site Reliability / Gitops Engineer to join our Information Systems (IS) team. You will drive operations automation for services supporting over 60 million Ubuntu users, working across private and public clouds. This role is ideal for an automation-first technologist with a passion for Linux and open-source infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Automation & GitOps: Drive development as an embedded tech lead, increasing automation and improving Infrastructure as Code (IaC) processes.
  • Architecture: Design and architect services as products, collaborating with the IS architect to align with the broader vision.
  • Operations: Maintain operational responsibility for core services, networks, and infrastructure, including troubleshooting, capacity planning, and performance investigation.
  • Observability: Implement and maintain monitoring and alerting using tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and Elasticsearch.
  • Collaboration: Provide critical feedback to developers, submit bug reports, and contribute pull requests to improve open-source technologies.
  • Mentorship: Share best practices, mentor team members, and participate in design sessions.

What We Are Looking For

  • Technical Expertise: Strong experience with Python, Kubernetes (or container orchestration), and cloud infrastructure management.
  • Linux Proficiency: Hands-on experience administering enterprise Linux servers, including networking, routing, firewalls, and storage (Ceph, Databases).
  • Mindset: A product-oriented mindset with a modern view on hosting architecture and a passion for open-source (Ubuntu/Debian).
  • Communication: Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal) and the ability to work effectively in a distributed team.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science or a related engineering field.
