Staff Product Marketing Manager, Developer Experience - Cockroach Labs

The Role

We're looking for a Staff Product Marketing Manager to own the Onboard & Build stage of the customer lifecycle. You will be the front door of our go-to-market motion, ensuring developers and their AI agents choose CockroachDB.

This is a high-ownership role where you will set positioning, build messaging, and drive enablement for developer adoption. You will sit within the Product Marketing & DevRel team, working closely with engineering to shape the product roadmap.

Key Journeys You Will Own

• Activation to Collaboration: Driving agent-driven discovery and evaluation.
• Data Onboarding & Enablement: Managing the migration story and tooling (MOLT).
• Developer Experiences: Overseeing quickstarts, docs, and sample apps.
• Programmability & Extensibility: Positioning interfaces, integrations, and platform capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Positioning & Messaging: Build a coherent message house for the Onboard & Build stage.
• Launch & GTM: Own PMM deliverables for launches, ensuring field readiness and timely execution.
• Field Enablement: Arm the sales team with decks, objection handling, and competitive framing.
• AI-Native Adoption: Position CockroachDB as the primary database for agentic workflows and AI-native development.
• Cross-functional Partnership: Collaborate with PMs, DevRel, docs, and demand gen to align product reality with market messaging.
• Proof & Content: Drive case studies and technical content that demonstrate real customer outcomes.

Requirements

• 8+ years in product marketing: Track record with technical products (databases, dev tools, or cloud platforms).
• Technical Fluency: Ability to discuss distributed systems and software architecture with engineers.
• AI-Native Knowledge: Understanding of LLMs, RAG, vector search, and agent-driven workflows.
• Opinionated Storytelling: Ability to turn technical capabilities into compelling developer-centric narratives.
• Bias for Action: Ability to produce high-quality work under deadlines.
