About the Role
At Render, we are building the modern cloud platform for developers creating AI-native, full-stack, multi-service applications. As we grow into the go-to platform for deploying AI-native apps and agents, we are designing for two users at once: developers and the agents working on their behalf.
We are looking for a Staff Product Designer to own our Agent Experience (AX) end-to-end. You will design the programmatic surface and the entire loop—from agent deployment and human review to error recovery and access management. You will ensure that every interface boundary—CLI, API, MCP, SDKs, and web UI—feels like one coherent product.
You Will:
- Design the full programmatic interface: Create a unified interaction model across CLI, API, SDKs, and Blueprints so agents can deploy, verify, and debug seamlessly.
- Design documentation as a product: Treat docs, Blueprints, and Skills as first-class programmatic surfaces that teach agents how to operate the platform.
- Bridge the human-operated gap: Design configuration-first paths that allow systems to be deployed in one motion, ensuring the programmatic loop remains unbroken.
- Design agent-human visibility: Create dashboard surfaces where humans can review, supervise, and trust agent-driven work.
- Design agent auth and access: Develop legible, safe, and scoped token management and permission models.
- Maintain model consistency: Ensure core platform objects (applications, services, environments) remain consistent across all surfaces.
We’re Looking For:
- 7+ years of product design experience, ideally in developer tools, infrastructure, or technical products.
- Craft across GUI and non-GUI: Strong portfolio demonstrating both web UI work and text-first thinking (CLI, API ergonomics, SDK design).
- End-to-end systems thinking: Ability to design a user journey that spans multiple interface boundaries.
- AI-native design perspective: A clear point of view on how products should show up to agents, not just humans.
- Technical literacy: Comfort reading and prototyping with code to collaborate directly with engineers.
- Cross-org influence: Ability to align product, engineering, and leadership on a vision for AX.
