Staff Product Manager - Agent & Systems Observability

About the Role

At Render, we’re building the modern cloud platform for developers creating AI-native, full-stack, multi-service applications. We are seeking a Staff Product Manager to own the vision and roadmap for observability at Render. This role spans both the systems layer and the fast-emerging world of agent observability, defining how developers understand software in an era where AI is fundamentally changing how it gets built and run.

What You'll Do

  • Strategy & Roadmap: Own the vision for observability, including systems telemetry (logs, metrics, distributed tracing), OpenTelemetry-native instrumentation, and agent/LLM observability.
  • Prioritization: Drive prioritization across observability investments, balancing foundational telemetry infrastructure against near-term product needs.
  • Cross-functional Partnership: Partner with Engineering and Product teams to shape the technical direction of Render's telemetry pipeline, optimizing for signal fidelity, query performance, and cost at scale.
  • AI-Native Observability: Develop an opinionated point of view on observability for AI-native builders, including OTel extensions for agent workloads and token economics.

We're Looking For

  • 7+ years in Product Management, with substantive experience in observability, monitoring, developer tools, or infrastructure products.
  • Working fluency with the OpenTelemetry ecosystem (signals, semantic conventions, collectors).
  • Familiarity with the economics of AI workloads (token pricing, model selection, LLM spend attribution).
  • Deep developer empathy and the technical depth to make sound architectural tradeoffs.
  • A track record of turning ambiguous, cross-cutting problems into clear strategy and shipped outcomes.
  • Strong communication and storytelling skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience as an SRE, observability engineer, or infrastructure engineer.
  • Hands-on experience building AI agents or instrumenting/evaluating them in production.
  • Contributions to OpenTelemetry or adjacent open-source telemetry projects.

Benefits

  • 4 weeks of paid vacation.
  • 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave.
  • 100% employer-paid medical coverage; 99% employer-paid dental and vision.
  • Long-term disability, life insurance, and 401K plans.
  • Monthly lifestyle stipend for wellness, mental health, and hobbies.
  • Monthly cell phone and internet subsidy.
  • Home office stipends for remote employees.
  • Continuous learning benefits.
